DESCRIPTION:On September 10, 2010, the New Bedford Whaling Museum will be hosting a free public opening celebration and reception for its newest exhibition, the Azorean Whaleman Gallery, located in the newly-renovated Bourne Building. The Azorean Whaleman Gallery provides the only permanent exhibition space in the United States that honors the Portuguese people and their significant contribution to the maritime heritage of New Bedford, the region and the nation.
